“I’ve been with Head Start for six years, two here at United Children and Family Head Start. I got laid off from the post office, so I decided to go back to school. I was asked, what’s the one thing or place where you would love to work, and I chose teacher. I love the kids. I don’t have any kids of my own, so I have a lot of love, attention and patience to give. I got my associate degree at Wayne County Community College, and this summer I’ll have my bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University. I’m also taking a course from Madonna University every Thursday.
UCFHS is a company where you can advance to different stages of teaching and they teach you. They have educators come here to teach you.
The most rewarding part of my job is the kids, to see the smiles on their faces, to hear them surprised at what they really know. It’s a wonderful place to work, and the kids are great.”
